Aβ injury leads to neuroinflammation and impairs the mechanisms of brain neurosteroid synthesis and metabolism, which have an impact on various neurological functions and behavior. Therefore, studying the impact of Aβ injury on neurosteroid metabolism and understanding the protective role of progesterone against Aβ-induced neuroinflammation are critical steps toward developing effective therapeutic approaches for AD.ObjectivesThe primary objective of this research is to investigate the changes in neurosteroid synthesis and metabolism in the rat brain following Aβ injury and to determine the mechanism that underlies these changes. The study also aims to examine the neuroprotective effects of progesterone on Aβ-induced neuroinflammation and its relationship with neurosteroid metabolism.MethodologyThis study will involve the use of male Wistar rats, which will be divided into four groups (A, B, C, and D). Group A will serve as the control group and will receive a saline injection. Group B will receive a single injection of Aβ, which will induce neuroinflammation. Group C will receive chronic progesterone treatment (20mg/kg/day) for two weeks before the Aβ injection to determine the protective effects of progesterone on the bra...
