The aim of this study was to investigate the expression and significance of IL-8 and IL-10 in herniated lumbar disc tissue. Real-time fluorescent quantitative PCR, Western blot and immunohistochemical staining were used to detect the expression levels of IL-8 and IL-10 in intervertebral disc tissue of 20 patients with herniated lumbar disc and 10 healthy controls. The results showed that compared with the control group, the expression of IL-8 in herniated lumbar disc tissue was significantly increased, while the expression of IL-10 was significantly decreased. The expression levels of IL-8 and IL-10 were significantly correlated with the course of the disease, degree of herniation, and clinical symptoms. These results suggest that abnormal expression of IL-8 and IL-10 in herniated lumbar disc tissue may be involved in the occurrence and development of herniated lumbar disc, and have certain clinical significance.Keywords: herniated lumbar disc; IL-8; IL-10; pathological expression; clinical significance.
