The Bluest Eye is the first novel written by her. The novel, taking place in Lorrain, Ohio in 1941, narrates an 11-year-old black girl named Pecola living in a black community and tragic life of this girl. Morrison creates three vivid female images- Pecola, Pecola’s mother Pauline and Claudia. A large number of symbolisms are used in the novel.
