The stress and deformation of the beam were analyzed considering the thermal strains in the composite and the beam's asymmetry using Elastic Foundation Beam theory and Genetic Algorithm Optimization Method. The results show that compared to a simple composite beam with a single SMA layer, the asymmetrically placed SMA layer composite beam has better shape memory effect and higher torsional strength under the same SMA layer and fiber placement thicknesses and distribution positions.Keywords: asymmetric placement, shape memory alloy (SMA), composite beam, thermal loading.
