Unity• A paragraph exists to develop an idea. It is important that each paragraph develop one specific idea and no more. If a paragraph develops more than one idea, it fails to have unity. If it does not develop an idea at all, it does not fulfill its function.• Every paragraph should have a reason for existing. No paragraph should be in writing just because the writer thought it was time to indent again. A good writer is always able to give a specific reason for each paragraph in his writing.Unity• Too often a writer is tempted to gather random thoughts into several sentences, indent them, and call them a paragraph.
