Hairspray hits UK cinemas in JulyWhat has been built as the most expe nsive musical ever staged in London has opened this week. 12.5 million pounds has been spent on the Lord of the Rings / the musical as producers are trying / cashing in on the success of the film. Sky’s Mark Smith went along.Throwing money at a stage show won’t automatically guarantee you critical and box office success, but it will get you noticed. So with 12.5 million pounds winding on this new production, the pressure is on/ for the show to deliver. Of course, it’s a lot of money, we have, anyway, you looked at it, and these shows are big, and they are expensive, and they have to wo rk commercially. The musical’s not beeing without its problems though, in one preview show, a performer got his leg crushed in stage machinery that’s been specially installed here inside the theatre, some 40 tons of steel, including 17 lifts. But other cast members who have been spending long hours rehearsing for tonight’s opening night are keeping upbeat about the production.It is a show that by/by the end, you get so much kind of eh, pleasure from it and you, you feel so proud of what you are doing, by the end you kinda go, ah, cool, I en, I enjoy that.Producers say they have sold over 1 20,000 tickets, earning the show 5 million pounds in advanced tickets sales. But the hobbits will be nervous for tonight’s feared enemy will journey to Middle Earth. They go by the name of theatre critics.There is less than a month to go until / Harry Potter returns to the cinema in his 5th big screen adventure.
