PremierZhouEnlaiinNankaiZhouEnlaiwasamongthefirststudentsthatstudiedatNankaiUniversity.HestudiedatNankaiMiddleSchoolfromAugust1913toJune1917.Duringthefouryears,heworkeddiligentlyanddevotedhimselftothebenefitofthemotherland.Hewasastudentofnicecharacterandextraordinarybrillianceandhewonrespectfromthestudentsandtheteachers.InSeptember,hewenttoJapantostudyandtherehetoucheduponMarxism.InApril1919,hereturnedtoTianjinandinSeptemberhebegantostudyHumanitiesatNankaiUniversity.Hisstudentnumberis60.AfterthefoundationoftheNewChina,he,asthePremierofthecountry,alwayskeptaneyeonthedevelopmentofNankaiUniversitydespitehisbusyaffairseveryday.HeinspectedNankaiUniversityforthreetimesrespectivelyinFebruary1951,April1957,andMay1959.OnhisthirdinspectionatNankaiUniversity,hespentalmostthewholedayininquiringinformationabouttheteachingandthescientificresearchoftheuniversityandhetalkedgeniallywiththeteachersandthestudents.Healsomadeanimportantspeechduringthisvisit,encouragingNankaiUniversityto"havenewatmosphereandnewemphasisonteachinginthenewera,andtoguaranteethequalityofteachingsoastoservebetterforsocialismandforcommunisminfuture.
