AreportonSino-Indiarelationship关于中印关系的报告ChinaandIndiaarebothancientnationswithalongsplendidcivilizationandtheyarerisingveryrapidlyinrecentdecades,whichhasattractedagreatdealofattentionfromtheworldcommunity.DuetothelikelinessonmanyaspectsbetweenthetwoAsiangiants,manypeoplealwaysliketocompareChinatoIndia,viewingthemastherepresentativesofemergingpowers.AcaseinpointisthatChinaandIndiaarebothrankedamongtheso-called“golden-brick”countries.Meanwhile,whatistherelationshipbetweenthesetwomostpopulouscountriesalthoughtheyaregivenworldwidecommendations?Thisissuehasarousedmystronginterest,andItriedtofindthestuffrelatedtoSino-Indiarelationship.ThefollowingiswhatIhavereadandthoughtonthisissue.Ⅰ.AnoverviewoftheliteratureAnarticleentitledChinaandIndiafailtodispelmutualsuspiciontalksaboutChina’spresidentHuJintao’svisittoIndiain2006.DuringhisvisittoIndia,HuJintaoandIndianPrimeMinisterManmohanSinghmadeajointstatementthatChinaandIndiaaretwomajorcountriesintheemergingmulti-polarworldorder,andthatthereisenoughspaceforthemtogrowtogether.AlthoughHu’svisitwasthefirstonetoIndiabyaChinesepresidentin10years,someIndiananalyststhoughtthattherewasnobreakthroughsproduced,andChinaandIndiacannotdispelthesuspicionforeachother.ThesuspicionmainlyrestedintheborderdisputeaswellasIndianconcernabouttheambitionsofChina.Forexample,theyfearthatChinaisdevelopingaSino-centricAsiainanattempttocountertheinfluenceofIndiaintheregionofSouthAsia.Atthesametime,theeconomicgapsbetweenthesetwoneighboringcountrieswereaconcernformanyIndianpeople.Theypointedtothefactthat“Therealissueisnotthebalanceofpaymentsbutthathalfourexportsareironoreorlowvalue-addeditems,”and“WeimportmanufacturedgoodsfromChinaandexportprimaryproducts.Chinaaddsvalueandcapturestheworldmarket”.Meanwhile,anotherarticleonHu’stourtoIndiamakesthepointthatitisapieceofgoodnewsforChinesePresidentHuJintaotovisitIndia,butnoteverybodyissatisfiedwiththevisit.SomepeopleinIndiathoughtthatHushouldpayaspecialvisittoIndia,anditwasnotveryappropriatetobundlevisitstoIndiaandPakistanintoasingletriptotheregion,becauseIndia,asarisingpowerontheworldstage,deservesenoughrespectfromotherpowers.AstothesignificancemadebyHu’svisittoIndia,somesaidthatinspiteofwhathemighthavesaidpubliclyaboutIndiabeingarisingpower,ChinastillwantedtocontainitwithintheregionandtotreatbothIndiaandPakistan,withwhichtheyhavealongstandingstrategicrelationship,asequals.Whilesomeotheranalystsarguedthatalthoughityieldednobreakthroughsontheborderdispute,ithadhelped“incrementally”toimproverelations.“InIndiaandChina:Oil-patchpartners?,thejournalistreportsthatalthoughbothIndiaandChinahavebeendesperatetolockinlong-termoilsuppliesinrecentyearsduetotheirfast-growingeconomiesandsoaringdemandforenergy,thetwonewpowersattempttoholdsomecollaborationinthisrespect.OnJan.6,2005IndianPetroleumMinisterManiShankarAiyarhostedoilministersfromChina,Japan,andSouthKorea--aswellaseightOPECproducers--todiscusscreatingalooselynamed"OrganizationforOilImportingCountries"toensureastable,equitablypricedenergysupplyforAsia.Byteamingup,Aiyarfigures,China,India,SouthKorea,andJapancancutabetterpricedealfromOPECproducers.Attheendofthereport,theauthoraddsthatChinaandIndiacancompeteforoilinanewversionoftheGreatGame--ortheycanbreaktherulesofpowerpoliticsandstepupcooperation.ThatwouldbestartlingindeedThearticleofChina,Indiatakeste...
