There are two glasses of water on the table. 8. western countries 西方 (的)国家(country 复数 --countries, 又如 hobby--hobbies, story — stories; boy--boys)二、语法1. there be 结构，又称为存在句或存在句 ,表示在某个地方有某物。 在一般现在时中 be 有 is 和 are 两种形式。使用 there is 还是 there are 由 is/ are 后的名词决定，这也称为 就近原则 。如：There is a book on the desk. 桌上有一本书。There are some students in the playground. 操场上有一些学生。There is some water in the glass. 瓶里有一些水。There is a pen and two pencils in the pencil-box.铅笔盒里有一支钢笔和两支铅笔。There are two pencils and a pen in the pencil-box. 铅笔盒里有两支铅笔和一支钢笔。要注意不能一看到some 就用 are ，要看看 some 后的名词是可数名词复数还是不可数名词。而带有单位量词的要由单位量词决定。如： There are two glasses of water on the table. 桌上有两瓶水 .
