However, in recent years, due to the recession in economic development, the phenomenon of lock-in of resource-based economy has become increasingly serious. Based on the theory of industrial diffusion in spatial economics, this paper explores the problem of lock-in and dissolving of resource-based economy in western China. Through the analysis of the current situation of economic development in Western China, the development of resource-based industries and relevant policies, this paper believes that the lock-in of resource-based economy in Western China is mainly caused by factors such as a single industrial structure, regional development imbalance, and backward technological progress. Industrial diffusion is the key to dissolve resource-based economy lock-in. Therefore, this paper proposes a new path, policy and measures for industrial diffusion, providing new ideas and directions for the dissolution of resource-based economy lock-in in western China.Keywords: Western China; Resource-based economy; Lock-in; Dissolving; Spatial economics; Industrial diffusion
