Traditional oil recovery techniques perform poorly in high-temperature and high-salinity environments, so it is necessary to develop oil recovery techniques and surfactants suitable for this type of reservoir. This article aims to study the synthesis and characterization of a non-anionic surfactant, providing new ideas for oil recovery in high-temperature and high-salinity reservoirs.Firstly, the characteristics of high-temperature and high-salinity reservoirs and the limitations of traditional oil recovery techniques were introduced. Then, the definition and classification of non-anionic surfactants were introduced, and their performance in high-temperature and high-salinity environments was discussed in detail. According to relevant literature reports, a simple synthesis method was adopted to synthesize a non-anionic surfactant, and its characterization was carried out. The experimental results showed that the synthesized surfactant has good stability and the ability to reduce oil-water interfacial tension in high-temperature and high-salinity environments.Finally, the research work and importance were summarized, and it was pointed out that further research is needed on the application of non-anionic surfactants in high-temperature and high-salinity reservoirs in the future.Keywords: high-temperature and high-salinity reservoirs; non-anionic surfactants; synthesis; characterization; oil recovery techniques
