Due to its excellent wear resistance, hardness, and corrosion resistance, high carbon high chromium cold work mold steel has received more and more attention. In this paper, the smelting process of high carbon high chromium cold work mold steel was studied. By optimizing the process parameters, the quality of steel and the surface quality of ingots were improved.This paper first analyzed the properties of high carbon high chromium cold work mold steel, and then introduced the basic smelting process. Further, a series of optimization measures were proposed for the shortcomings of the existing process, including raw material selection, furnace temperature control, and the use of oxidants. The experimental results showed that the optimized process can significantly improve the quality of steel and the surface quality of ingots.The results of this study show that by optimizing the smelting process of high carbon high chromium cold work mold steel, the quality and production efficiency can be significantly improved, while also saving production costs.Keywords: high carbon high chromium cold work mold steel; smelting process; optimization; quality; production efficiency
