There exists a vivid and long history of ghosts' culture both in China and in the west. Because of different cultural backgrounds, one region's ghosts' culture can be obviously distinguished from other regions'. Through the contrastive study of the differences and between Chinese and western ghosts' culture on the surface, deeper implications will be revealed. This paper first introduces the definition and value of ghost culture, then presents different ghosts' concepts of Chinese and western people. Usually, literatures and folk customs are the means culture used to interpret the world. In this case, this paper analyzes the differences of Chinese and western ghosts' culture from the perspectives of literature and folk custom, and probes into the reasons of the differences.
