AnExperimentalStudyofNurseReviewandPeerReviewofSeniorMiddleSchoolStudents’EnglishWritingByTangYonghuaNo.1MiddleSchoolofChangshaRailwayAbstract:Peerreviewandnursereviewaretwoapproachestowardsstudents’Englishwriting.InthestudytheauthordidanexperimentandprovedthehypothesesthatPRismoresuccessfulthanNRinhelpingstudentscultivateaspiritofcooperation,todevelopinitiativeinwritingandtomakeimprovementinwriting.Keywords:peerreviewnursereviewexperimentalstudyI.TheBackgroundandsignificanceoftheStudyEnglishwritingabilityisoneofthemostimportantabilitiesthatEFLstudentsmustobtain.Nowadays,themiddleschoolstudentsinChinahavesomekindoffearofEnglishwriting.WritinginEnglishsomehowhasbecomeaheavyburdenfortheEFLstudents.Whereas,inthefaceofpilesofEnglishwritingpapers,teachersareallfeelingquiteperplexed,notknowingwhattodowithallofthesepapers.Someteacherssparenopainstoreviewallofthepapers,becausetheywonderwhetherthestudentswilldiscovertheirshortcomings,andwhethertheycanmakeprogressinwritingwithouttheirteachers’detailedreview.Theseteacherstrytofindalloftheerrorsandmistakesonstudents’papersandtocorrectthemverycarefully,althoughtheyfeelverytired.Theythinkthatonlyinthiswaycantheyhelpthestudentsimprovegreatly.But,totheirdisappointment,theyoftenfindthatwhattheyhavemadeeffortstodohascontributedlittletothestudents’improvementinwriting.Someotherteachershavetheoppositeopinionandtheyaretryingtofindoutsomenewwaystosolvethisproblem.Therefore,PR(peerreview)hasbeenadopted.Some1thinkitisagoodwaytosavetheteachers’timeandtohelpthestudentsmakemoregrowthinwriting.Doesitreallyhaveaneffect?IsPRbetterinhelpingimprovestudents’writingability?Anyway,someresearchmustbedoneonthereviewofEnglishwriting.So,thequestionofthisstudyisputforward.Therearemanystatementsabouthowtoreviewstudents’writing.ItcanbeconcludedfromthesestatementsthatPRcanplayanimportantpartintheteachingofwriting,otherthanNR(nursereview),andthisideaisnowwidelyacceptedbymanyteachers.Butmostofthestatementsareprimarilyfromexperienceorhypothesesdrawnfromtheories.Enoughproofforallofthesestatementscannotbefound.Sincetheexperimenttalks,itisquitenecessaryforustomakeanexperimentalstudyonthecomparisonofthetwoapproachestowardsstudents’writing.SothesignificanceofthisthesisliesinitsfirstexperimentalstudyonthereviewofEnglishwriting.II.TheTheoreticalOrientationofthePresentStudyThestudyisbasedonthefollowingtheories.2.1.TheCooperationLearningTheoryCooperativelearningisonekindofteachingstrategyandtheorywhichplaysanactiveroleinimprovingtheclasslearningatmosphere,raisingstudents’scoresinlargeareasanddevelopingthestudents’non-cognitivequalities.Accordingtothecooperativelearningtheory,studentswhostudyinpairs,oringroups,andcooperatewitheachothercanbemoreactiveandinterestedinstudy.And,consequently,anexcellentatmosphereforstudymaybecreated.2.2.TheTheoryofZoneofProximalDevelopmentAccordingtothistheoryofzoneofproximaldevelopmentbyVygotsky,Adults’2orpeers’helpplaysanimportantroleinchildren’sdevelopment.Teacher’shelp,alongwithhelpfromstudents’peerswhoareatnearlythesamescholasticlevelwiththem,canfosterstudents’growthinstudy.Teachersandpeersweregoodhelperstothesubjectsinthisstudy.2.3ErrorAnalysisErroranalysispointsoutthatlanguagemistakesfromlearnersareverynormal,andthatlearnerscanlearnalanguagewellthroughthemakingofmistakes.Itdescribestheprocedureofanalyzingerrors,whichinvolv...
