However, due to their high hardness and brittleness, their processing is difficult. Therefore, this paper aims to explore the water-based gel casting technology of ZrB2-based ceramics and study the toughening of ZrB2-based ceramics. Firstly, through literature review, the performance characteristics, processing difficulties and common molding methods of ZrB2-based ceramics are introduced. Then, specific research content and plan are proposed for water-based gel casting technology, and the preparation method of water-based gel, the casting process and the method of process parameter optimization are introduced. Finally, with temperature, pressure and other conditions as control variables, the toughness of ZrB2-based ceramics is tested, and the fracture mechanism and strengthening mechanism are analyzed. The results of this study are expected to provide reference for improving the processing efficiency and reducing the cost of ZrB2-based ceramics.Keywords: ZrB2-based ceramics; water-based gel casting; toughening; fracture mechanism; strengthening mechanism.
