By collecting samples and determining their chlorophyll a content, a relationship model between chlorophyll a and primary productivity is established in order to provide scientific basis for the ecological environment protection of this area. In this study, a methane chlorophyll fluorescence meter was used to determine the chlorophyll a content in seawater, and the primary productivity of seawater was determined by the BOD method. A total of 36 samples were collected from the aquaculture base, the beach and the coastal tidal flat in Qingdao. The results showed that there was a positive correlation between chlorophyll a content and primary productivity in the coastal waters of Qingdao, indicating that the biomass and ecological system status in this area were relatively stable. The conclusion of this study can provide important reference for environmental monitoring and ecological protection in this area.Key words: Qingdao coastal waters; Chlorophyll a; Primary productivity; Methane chlorophyll fluorescence meter; BOD method.
