开题报告书(Title)ResearchonLinYutang’sSelf-translationStrategies林语堂作品自译策略研究ThesisStatement：ThethesistakesLinYutang’sself-translationstrategiesasthesubjectmatterwiththemethodsofdescriptivestudies.TheresultsofthethesissuggestthatLinYutangingeniouslyappliedtwoself-translationstrategieswhenself-translating:domesticationandforeignizationwithatendencyfordomestication.Thistendencyaccordswithhistranslationviewsfeaturedbythreetranslationcriteria:faithfulness,fluencyandbeauty.Besides,thisinclinationalsoreflectshisbeliefontheessenceoftranslation,i.e.“Translationisanart”andhisferventreaders’awareness.AimsandSignificanceoftheResearch:Aims:ThepurposesoftheresearcharetosummarizeLinYutang’sself-translationstrategiesanditstendency,byspecificallyanalyzingthetranslationtechniquesusedinhisself-translations,andfurtherexaminesthefactorsaffectingthisinclination.Significance:Asaspecialcategoryinthefieldoftranslation,self-translationhasnotgainedenoughattentioncomparedwithothers.Therefore,thethesisconcentratingonLinYutang’sself-translationstrategiesenrichesanddeepenstheunderstandingofself-translation.Meanwhile,itisbeneficialtoimproveourtranslatingabilitiesbylearningfromLinYutang’stranslationthoughtsandhisextraordinarybilingualcompetence.LiteratureReview:StudiesonSelf-translationinChina:InChina,researchesonself-translationstartedlate,andmostofthedissertationsconcerningthisfieldwerepublishedaftertheyear2000(HuangYanqun,2012).Thedomesticstudiesofself-translationsofarcanbesummedupmainlyinthreecategoriesbelow:(1)theexplorationofconceptandclassificationofself-translation:In“自译初探”（RenXiaomeiandLiRuixia,2010）,byvirtueofstudyingvariousinterpretationsanddefinitionsofself-translationsinChinaandabroadfromtheperspectivesofsubject,timingandcontentofself-translation,theauthorsdefineitas“theprocessorcorrespondingresultofawriterrenderinghispublishedworkortheworkcompletedintoanotherlanguageindependentlyorbycooperatingwithothers.Self-translationcanbedetailedlycategorizedintoself-translationbyaself-translatororbycooperation,immediateornon-immediateself-translation,literaryornon-literaryself-translation”.(2)historyofself-translationandofself-translationstudies:typicalstudiesofthistypeinclude“西方翻译史上的文学自译研究”(ZhangXiaoling,2014),“我国文学自译十年回眸（2001-2011）”（HuangYanqun,2012）.Inthefirstarticle,ZhangXiaoling(2014)putsemphasisonreviewingthehistoryofliteraryself-translationinwesterncountriesandtwoinfluentialmonographs:TheBilingualText:HistoryandTheoryofLiterarySelf-TranslationandSelf-Translation:BrokeringOriginalityinHybridCulture.Inthesecondarticle,HuangYanqun(2012)makesastatisticalanalysisofresearchesonliteraryself-translationinChineseacademiafrom2001to2011,pointingoutthatprogresshasbeenmadeintheareasofbookreviews,theories,andcasestudiesofself-translation,nevertheless,thesestudiesarestillinasuperficialandunsystematiclevel.(3)casestudiesofself-translationfromdifferentperspectives:Skopostheory,Manipulationtheory,Adaptationtheory,Relevancetheory,Hermeneutics,ReceptionAesthetics,Dialogism,Intertextuality,Eco-translatology,andTranslationEthics.Self-translatorsthatChinesescholarsfocusontoconducttheirresearchesmostlyareChinesewriterswithoutstandingbilingualcompetencesuchasLinYutang,EileenChang,XiaoQian,BaiXianyong,BianZhilin,MuDanandYuKwang-chung,meanwhilewithsomeresearche...
