It was such a convenient and fast calculating device that it has been widely used in many countries throughout the world for centuries. However, Electronic computer was one of the greatest inventions in the 20th century. The world’s first computer was invented in 1946. It was called ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Calculator). At early times, the computers were very large and too expensive for ordinary people to use. Computers were only used in some special fields such as governments, universities, big firms. As they worked much more efficient than human beings, they were considered milestone of history.Because of Chinese scientists’ efforts, computers developed rapidly. Chinese first computer was manufactured 1958. And in 1984, China developed its first PC(personal computer), which meant computers would be used by more individuals. The first laptop in China was researched and produced by Lenovo in 1996. Computers are now being used everywhere，whether in the government ，in schools or in business computers can be found in every home，too．Computers have totally changed our life. With the help of a computer, people can see films, listen to music; buy and sell things. People even hunt jobs, study and work without leaving their home. In a world, many things can be done by a computer.We have good reason to say that computers are playing an increasingly important role in our life and we have stepped into the Computer Age．
