Firstly, the paper introduces the concept and basic principles of ethics, analyzes the relationship between residential architecture and ethics, and analyzes the characteristics and reasons of the evolution of Western modern residential architecture from the perspective of ethics. Subsequently, the paper elaborates on the three main stages of Western modern residential architecture: modernist stage, post-modernist stage, and contemporary stage. Among them, the architecture in the Modernist stage emphasizes functionality and simplicity, the architecture in the post-modernist stage pursues transcendence, diversity, and fun, and the architecture in the contemporary stage tries to integrate the natural environment as much as possible.
