Identifying risk factors for first-time surgery in patients with Crohn's disease may help improve patient management and outcomes. Objective: This study aims to identify the risk factors for first-time surgery in patients with Crohn's disease. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of 315 patients with Crohn's disease who underwent their first surgery between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024, at a single tertiary hospital. Medical records will be reviewed to collect demographic information, clinical characteristics, laboratory results, imaging findings, and surgical details. Patients who underwent surgery for a non-inflammatory bowel disease-related condition will be excluded. Descriptive statistics will be used to summarize the data, and logistic regression will be performed to identify the risk factors for first-time surgery.Expected results: We expect to identify risk factors for first-time surgery in patients with Crohn's disease, such as age, sex, disease duration, disease location, disease behavior, smoking status, and use of immunosuppressive medication. These results may help identify patients who are at higher risk for surgery and allow for earlier intervention and management. Conclusion: The identification of risk factors for first-time surgery in patients with Crohn's disease may help improve patient management and outcomes. The results of this study may also inform the development of guidelines and recommendations for the management of Crohn's disease.
