Each summer, an estimated half million wildebeest travel hundreds of miles from the Serengeti to the Masai Mara. Driving through the herd during a migration will leave you speechless. Plan your trip sometime between July and October, when the herd is in the park. 2. Galapagos Islands About 620 miles off the coast of Ecuador lie the Galapagos Islands. This group of about 70 small islands contains an amazing variety of wildlife. Many of these animals can be found nowhere else in the world. Because there are no natural predators (食肉动物) on the islands, the animals have no fear of people. Tourists can easily approach the animals. The best time to visit is January through April. 3. Polar bears near Churchill Few people ever see a polar bear in the wild. These solitary ( 孤独的) bears spend their lives wandering the frozen Arctic. From October to November, however, more than 1,000 polar bears gathered near the town of Churchill, Manitoba, on Canada’s Hudson Bay. They come here to wait for the ocean to freeze over so they can go out on the ice. To view the bears in safety, tourists ride in huge carts.4. Tigers in Kanha Seeing one of the powerful animals in the wild is a rare and unforgettable experience. The best chance to see a tiger is in India’s Kanha National Park. Tourists ride elephants through the jungle in search of the rare cats. Between February and June is the best time to visit the park. 5. Gorillas in Rwanda and Uganda Parc National des Volcans in Rwanda and Bwindi National Park in Uganda offer a safe home for the gorillas. The two national parks also offer wonderful gorilla-viewing opportunities for tourists. But gorilla-watching is not for the weak or timid. Tourists may have to walk for up to eight hours over steep, muddy hills to find the gorillas. For best viewing conditions, go sometime in January, February, June or July.
